Manglik check

Told you're Manglik? See what the texts actually say.

Mars sits in one of the counted houses in most charts. The same texts list exceptions that cancel it, and treat two Manglik charts as a match. We check all of it and show the source for each rule.

Is being Manglik rare?

No. Six of the twelve houses are counted, from two starting points. In our count of 1,000 made-up births (1960–2005), about 3 in 4 charts had Mars in a counted house. A classical exception cancelled it in more than half of those, leaving about 1 in 3.

What do the old verses say?

A verse quoted in Hindi texts, “लग्ने व्यये च पाताले जामित्रे चाष्टमे कुजे”, calls Mars in these houses harmful to the marriage. The texts on matching also list exceptions that cancel it, and treat two Manglik charts as balanced (dosha-samya). Matching weighs both whole charts, not one point.

The verse as quoted in Hindi texts, without a named source. Exceptions: Muhurta Chintamani, Jataka Parijata (as quoted in Hindi texts)
Does it end at age 28?

That's a popular belief. We couldn't find it in a classical text, and some astrology writers call it a myth, so we don't use it.

Is there an upay?

When no exception applies, the tradition's upay is Mangal's verse from the Navagraha Stotra, on Tuesdays. It's offered as tradition, not a promise of results, and nothing needs to be bought.
